Building Agents
An agent in Zimmer is built across four tabs: Template, Knowledge, Journey, and Settings.
Agent Types
Zimmer supports two types of agents:
-
Knowledge Agents — Chat-powered agents that interact with users in real time. Ideal for support, recommendations, lead capture, and Q&A. They have four parts: Template (visual design), Journey (conversation flow), Knowledge (data sources), and Settings (AI behavior).
-
Action Agents — Autonomous agents that run in the background on triggers (schedules, webhooks, data changes). Ideal for automation, monitoring, document generation, and API orchestration. See Action Agents for details.
Building a Knowledge Agent
Work through the tabs in order when setting up a new agent:
- Template — set the visual appearance in Template Studio
- Knowledge — link knowledge bases and product catalogs
- Journey — build the conversation flow
- Settings — configure AI behaviour, guardrails, and deployment
